The Property Services team at St Helens comprises Commercial Estates, Facilities and Building Maintenance, Design and Major Projects, and Customer Services and Business Support, all under the leadership of our Head of Property. Our Property Services has been designed to promote the proactive management of our assets, whilst providing a customer focused service that facilitates outcomes for our residents and clients, through improved customer experience, better use of public estate, greater financial efficiency and achievement of our Borough priorities.
Reporting to the Team Manager for Commercial Estates, the successful applicants will join an existing team of Surveyors and an Estates Technician, whilst working alongside the wider Property Team.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Surveyor to join our Commercial Estates team here in St Helens. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the management and development of the Council’s diverse property portfolio, helping to deliver best value, drive regeneration, and support service delivery for the benefit of our residents.
Key Responsibilities- Lead on complex estate management matters including disposals, acquisitions, lettings, lease renewals, rent reviews, and valuations.
- Provide expert advice on property-related issues to internal services, elected members, and key stakeholders.
- Support the development and implementation of the Council’s Asset Strategy and Asset Management Plan.
- Support and mentor junior members of the team and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, RICS standards, and best practice in property management.
You will be a commercially minded property professional with:
- A degree in Estate Surveying (or equivalent).
- Full membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS/FRICS).
- Significant post-qualification experience in estates or asset management.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and stakeholder engagement.
