Switching to a role at any point in your career at our local council means you could go further than you think.

The difference Caretakers make in our schools: With responsibility for the care, security, general maintenance and operational effectiveness in our schools, caretakers undertake a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities from key holders, organising contractors to carry out repairs, storage of cleaning equipment, ventilation management, grounds maintenance and much more. To carry out this important work caretakers need to demonstrate good practical working practice of the cleaning sector, have basic DIY skills, be able to work with safe working practices utilising their knowledge of health and safety procedures and hazards, and have good communication and organisational skills to handle situations sensitively and complete routine paperwork.

Why Our Mobile Workforce Matters: Our mobile workforce enables us to meet service need and adapt to change quickly. Mobile employees are not always tied to a specific location, meaning they can move between locations or provide additional hours and are instrumental in providing cover. Mobile working suits individuals who can be flexible with hours, or who are happy to work from more than one location. You might want a job that gives you additional hours, prefers working from different environments, or is happy to provide additional cover in addition to their usual hours.

Equality & Diversity: We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds, who share our values, our commitment to inclusion, and who will help us on our journey to transform our organisation. The Council guarantees an interview to disabled applicants who demonstrate that they meet the essential criteria for the job, as detailed on the Person Specification, and will, for qualifying disabled candidates, make reasonable adjustments within the interview/selection process. The council runs a Guaranteed Interview Scheme.
