Responsibilities:
- Supervise the children in the dining hall while they have their lunch, as directed by the form teachers.
- Clear up spillages and accidents.
- Supervise the children in the playground.
- Ensure that all play activities are safe and accord with playground rules.
- Provide, supervise the use of and put away playground play equipment.
- Encourage the pupils to use their playtimes creatively, actively and cooperatively.
- Closely supervise children on the adventure play areas.
- Be alert for signs of bullying, loneliness or other individual problems, and report to form teacher.
- Provide care and simple treatment for children who are unhappy or unwell, or who have suffered minor cuts or bumps.
- Alert a first-aider when children are injured or ill.
- Record accidents in the accident book, which will subsequently be seen by the welfare assistant.
- Become trained in asthma and anaphylaxis awareness.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Headteacher.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend school activities such as Fetes.
- Attend training courses, paid for by the school, which will enhance expertise and awareness of issues related to the post of Lunch Assistant.
