This is a rare opportunity to join St Helens Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) as Team Manager. MASH is a well‑established multi‑agency safeguarding team that works closely with health, education, police and wider services to support decision making at the front door where there are concerns for children’s welfare.

Team Composition:

  • 1 Team Manager
  • 2 Assistant Team Managers
  • 4 Social Workers
  • Wider partners integrated in MASH

Role Profile:

The MASH Team Manager is key to delivery of outstanding practice standards, quality assurance, performance and decision making in the MASH team. This hybrid role requires a minimum of 2 days in the office to enable face‑to‑face connection with team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and uphold outstanding practice standards, quality assurance, performance and decision making within the MASH team.
  • Drive practice standards and ensure the welfare of social care staff within MASH.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships within and external to the team, and reduce barriers to multi‑agency working.
  • Maintain oversight of decision making for children, ensuring appropriate thresholds, risk management and good quality assessment and outcomes.
  • Work under pressure in a busy front‑door environment, adhering to timescales for decision making.
  • Ensure trainees are fully supported through supervision, learning opportunities and regular contact with senior leaders.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience managing a multi‑agency safeguarding team.
  • Understanding of thresholds, risk management and quality assessment in child safeguarding.
  • Passion for delivering services to a high standard and developing services to meet the needs of children and families.
