The Licensing Services team are contributing significantly to the regeneration by working with our colleagues to bring new high quality venues to our town centres and improve the availability of taxis and ranks so that customers are able to visit with ease.

Our Licensing Services team have undergone transformation and the team works hard with our customers to support them through the challenges they face. They support hundreds of local businesses throughout the borough, providing advice, issuing licences and when necessary, working with them to improve or change. We work closely with Merseyside Police and Licensing partners to ensure that the borough's licence holders meet the highest standards. We are committed to working with our licence holders to ensure that they have the help they need to remain compliant.

The role of Senior Licensing Officer – Enforcement is crucial to the delivery of the Council's statutory duties. You will be a key member of this team and one of several responding to complaints, carrying out compliance visits, taking witness statements and preparing cases for court as part of a small team. It is a very rewarding role and building relationships is the key to success.

We recognise that there may be interest from those who haven't worked within the Licensing field previously, or those who are looking to develop their career and whilst experience is always helpful, it is not essential. In St Helens we are committed to training and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to study for the Level 4 Apprenticeship Regulatory Compliance Officer as part of your training. You will also have the benefit of expert on the job coaching and access to our extensive in-house training hub to help build your skills. The Council also offers ongoing development to Managers or those who wish to progress to these levels and above.
