About the Role
Our Schools Traded Teams deliver services across 55 primary and 5 secondary schools in the Borough. As a Caretaker you will be responsible for the care, security, general maintenance and operational effectiveness of our schools, ensuring safe, clean and well‑maintained learning environments for staff and pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out day‑to‑day cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Operate key‑holding duties, including controlling access and organising keys.
- Coordinate subcontractors for repairs and maintenance work.
- Store and manage cleaning equipment, including ventilation and grounds maintenance supplies.
- Maintain safe working practices and comply with health and safety procedures.
- Complete routine paperwork and report incidents.
- Assist with mobile working, providing additional cover across multiple locations as required.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in the cleaning sector with a good practical work ethic.
- Basic DIY skills and the ability to use tools safely.
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures and hazard identification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle diverse situations sensitively.
