Based – 1 x York Women’s Centre and 1 x Scarborough Women’s Centre

Are you a compassionate, resilient and proactive individual with experience of supporting women facing multiple and complex disadvantages? Do you have the confidence to deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support in both community and outreach settings? If so, St Giles Trust is looking for a dedicated Women’s Alliance Caseworker to join our new Women’s Alliance Service York and North Yorkshire, delivering vital outreach support across some of the most rural communities in the county.

Due to the nature of the service, the role is only open to female applicants and the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, Paragraph 1 applies to this post.

About the Service

The Women’s Alliance Service is a new multi-agency service which provides holistic, trauma-informed and gender-responsive support to women and girls across York and North Yorkshire, including those facing barriers to engagement such as those living in the most rural communities and those belonging to minority groups. Support is delivered through women’s centres, multi-agency drop-ins and the Liberty Links outreach model, using a mobile transit vehicle to reach women in the most isolated communities.

About this key role

You will provide direct, trauma-informed casework support to women across North Yorkshire, completing assessments, safety planning and action planning in collaboration with service users. Working from York or Scarborough Women’s Centre, you will also deliver outreach support using a Liberty Links transit vehicle, travelling to rural and community-based locations to engage women who may not otherwise access services. You will build strong, trusting relationships with women and work closely with partner agencies including police, probation, health services and voluntary organisations to ensure coordinated, holistic support. You will also play a key role in supporting women to achieve positive outcomes, including increased safety, improved wellbeing, reduced risk and greater engagement with services and community support.

What we are looking for

  • Proven ability and experience as a caseworker delivering trauma responsive and gender specific interventions to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people, e.g. people who have complex needs, those from disadvantaged backgrounds and people who have experienced homelessness, substance misuse, exploitation or domestic abuse.
  • Experience of 1:1 casework, including support planning, risk assessment and safeguarding.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Ability to engage effectively with people who may be reluctant, distressed or hard to reach.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently in community and outreach settings, including rural locations.
  • Good organisational and IT skills, including accurate case recording and reporting.

Please note: this role requires the successful candidate to have a full UK driving licence and be confident driving a transit sized vehicle. Vetting process will be in accordance with the Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) and will also include an Enhanced Adult and Children DBS check.
