Are you a compassionate, organised, and proactive individual with experience of volunteer management or community engagement? If so, St Giles Trust is looking for a highly motivated Volunteer Coordinator to play a key role in developing and delivering a high-quality volunteer programme across Wales.

About the role
You will lead on implementing the Investing in Volunteers Quality Standard (IiV), developing a structured and inclusive volunteer pathway that supports individuals to thrive and contribute meaningfully to our work. You will play a key role in recruiting, training and supporting volunteers, ensuring a positive and empowering experience while strengthening St Giles Trust’s volunteer community.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain volunteers
- Recruit, interview and onboard volunteers
- Design and deliver training for volunteers and staff supporting them
- Provide ongoing support, guidance and supervision to volunteers
- Match volunteers to appropriate roles based on skills and interests
- Coordinate volunteer schedules and ensure effective coverage
- Organise recognition events and initiatives to celebrate contributions
- Maintain accurate records and track volunteer activity and impact
- Monitor performance and address any issues proactively
- Produce reports and support evaluation of the volunteer programme
- Foster an inclusive, welcoming and supportive volunteer environment
What we are looking for
- Experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement or a similar role
- Knowledge of safeguarding and data protection
- Experience in event planning or training delivery
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Confidence using Microsoft Office or volunteer management systems
- Understanding of the barriers faced by people with lived experience
