About the role

You’ll provide practical, compassionate and non-judgemental support to women involved in, or at risk of further involvement in, the criminal justice system. Working across police custody and community settings, you’ll help women identify their priorities, access specialist services and address barriers such as housing instability, mental health needs, substance use and financial pressures. Your work will support opportunities for diversion from prosecution where appropriate and help reduce future offending.

  • Carry out holistic assessments and co-produce action and risk management plans with women.
  • Provide outreach, advice and advocacy, connecting women with housing, benefits, health, education, training, employment and family support.
  • Build effective relationships with police, community organisations and specialist services to strengthen referrals and joined-up support.
  • Recognise safeguarding concerns, follow agreed procedures and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Keep accurate case records, capture outcomes and contribute to project monitoring and reporting.
  • Plan positive case closures so women know where to turn for ongoing support.

You’ll bring experience of casework and an understanding of the barriers women face in the criminal justice system, including the challenges of police custody or similar settings. Kind, adaptable and resilient, you’ll take a client-led approach and work collaboratively to help women make sustainable changes. We value relevant lived experience alongside experience gained through supporting others.

As an organisation that works with children and adults at risk we are committed to safeguarding, protecting and promoting the safety of our clients and successful applicants will require an Enhanced Adult WorkforceDBS Check.
