We are recruiting a Medical and Learning Support Assistant (MLSA) to work in Year Two, providing 1:1 support for a boy with cerebral palsy.
He is a happy, engaged and confident member of the school community and an able learner. He has physical and mobility needs and uses a range of specialist equipment to enable him to participate fully in school life and access all areas of the curriculum.
The MLSA will support him with transitions around the school site and with the safe use of mobility equipment, including a walking frame, sticks and wheelchair. He may also require support when travelling longer distances around the school.
The child follows a physiotherapy programme, which the MLSA will be required to support and deliver as part of the school day. Full training will be provided, including training in the use of specialist equipment, moving and handling and his individual physiotherapy programme.
As the child is an able and increasingly independent learner and does not routinely require 1:1 academic support during lessons, the MLSA will also be expected to support other pupils within the class where appropriate, while remaining available to meet his individual needs.
Full details, including the job description, can be found in the attached Candidate Information Pack. For Safer Recruitment purposes all applicants must complete an application form, which can be accessed by clicking the Apply online button.
