Background: LawIRL is The City Law School’s experiential learning programme, designed to help students develop practical legal skills and gain first-hand experience of the legal profession. Through opportunities including legal placements, court visits, mock trials and participation in the award-winning City Community Legal Advice Centre (CityCLAC), students can apply their knowledge in real-world settings. As part of City St George’s commitment to social mobility and professional education, LawIRL supports students in developing the experience, confidence and employability needed to succeed in an increasingly competitive legal sector while helping to improve access to justice within the local community.
Responsibilities: The Administrator will provide essential administrative support across LawIRL projects and CityCLAC, ensuring an efficient and professional service for students, volunteer lawyers, staff, clients and external partners. Key duties include managing enquiries, maintaining confidential records and case management systems, coordinating appointments and events, supporting student opportunities and monitoring deadlines. The role involves regular interaction with members of the public and community organisations, requiring excellent customer service and organisational skills. Working closely with the LawIRL Coordinator, the postholder will contribute to the smooth delivery of programmes that support student development and community engagement.
Person Specification: We are seeking an experienced and highly organised administrator with a proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in a busy office environment. The successful candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of accuracy, and experience handling confidential information with discretion. They will be comfortable using Microsoft Office and digital systems, managing competing priorities, and working both independently and as part of a small team. While experience in higher education or legal services would be advantageous, we welcome applications from candidates with transferable administrative skills and a commitment to supporting students and the wider community.
Additional Information: Our services are open only during term time, and therefore, the administrator would be required to work in-person in our office for approximately 30 weeks of the year. Time off in lieu is provided for any work completed outside of normal working hours.
