Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join St George\’s South-West Thames Centre for Genomics Virtual Family History Clinic service as a Family History Patient Pathway Coordinator on a fixed term post to cover maternity leave until mid-October 2026.

This role is key to the delivery of an innovative service of a virtual family history moderate risk clinic hosted by our South-West Thames Centre for Genomics, aimed at providing assessment to patients within the South West Thames Centre for Genomics region and beyond, covering a population of over 7 million people. We are looking for an experienced coordinator or administrator who will be one of the points of contact and provide expert administrative and coordination support essential to the delivery of the pilot and its pathway.

You will work as part of the Virtual Family History Administration Team with a role focused on ensuring that family history patient pathways are effectively managed. Your responsibilities will encompass a broad range of activities, such as answering queries and problem solving for the team, managing the tracking process for patients requiring ongoing investigation, monitoring the administrative processes to ensure operational targets are adhered to with regards to communication of results to patients and referring providers. You will provide timely and appropriate interaction with patients who require investigations or onwards referrals, liaising with other Trust departments and other hospitals to facilitate this. You will have the ability to work in a busy atmosphere, a professional demeanour, and a friendly disposition.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a point of contact and provide expert administrative and coordination support for the Virtual Family History Clinic.
  • Manage the tracking process for patients requiring ongoing investigation and monitor administrative processes to meet operational targets for communication of results to patients and referring providers.
  • Provide timely interaction with patients requiring investigations or onwards referrals; liaise with other Trust departments and other hospitals to facilitate pathways.
  • Answer queries, problem solve, and support the team in day-to-day operations in a busy clinic environment.

About the service

We provide an integrated clinical genetics service for individuals or families who have or are at risk of having a genetic disorder, based at St George\’s. The service comprises a team of clinical staff, including consultant geneticists, genetic counsellors, and specialist registrars supported by an operational administrative function. The Virtual Family History Clinic provides family history assessments for individuals at increased risk to develop cancer based on family history.
