This post requires you to share and develop new and existing experience, skills and knowledge in this field to enhance the clinical practice and competency of staff in safe handling practices across the Trust.

Working alongside the Specialist Nurse Practitioner in Back Care in a small and supportive, friendly team, you will be dedicated to providing an expert service for staff and patients in all aspects of evidence‑based safe handling practice, across all clinical and non‑clinical areas of the Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver regular and effective, fully inclusive and adapted educational and training courses across the Trust.
  • Provide expert practical advice, complete training needs analysis, undertake audits, and complete ergonomic display screen assessments with staff.
  • Evaluate the impact of training, undertake clinical reviews and work with staff and patients with complex moving, handling, and positional needs.
  • Offer bespoke specialized training courses to specific staff groups, demonstrating flexibility in delivery based on the assessment of need.
  • Complete formative assessments with course delegates to enhance safe practice and facilitate summative assessment against a competency assurance framework.
  • Work with staff and patients in all clinical areas across Epsom and St Helier Hospitals to monitor, supervise, and implement current safe handling practices.
  • Communicate knowledge and general information in a manner that learners can understand, adapting learning to meet different learning styles and outcomes.
  • Encourage participation and cooperation of all learners, using persuasive, motivational, and negotiating skills where necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Clinically trained with a keen interest in training and developing best practice in safe handling.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong work ethic.
  • Commitment to research and evidence‑based practice.
  • Experience in delivering inclusive, adapted education and training for diverse groups.
  • Ability to conduct needs analyses, audits, and ergonomic assessments.
