The Nutrition Nursing Service at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals will be led by a Lead Nutrition Clinical Nurse Specialist and supported by a Developmental Nutrition Clinical Nurse Specialist. This role works autonomously as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver specialist nutrition care (oral, enteral and parenteral) to adult patients and those transferring to adult services. It offers an opportunity for professional development within the nutrition specialty.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nutrition assessment and support for adult and transitional patients.
- Implement and audit nutrition clinical pathways, including oral, enteral and parenteral feeding.
- Educate and train ward staff, patients and carers on nutrition management.
- Deliver presentations and act as an information resource for the service.
- Carry out clinical audit and quality improvement projects, facilitating the implementation of innovation in nutrition care.
- Maintain accurate clinical and administrative records.
- Support and collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Specialist – Nutrition Lead and other multidisciplinary team members.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Registered nurse with a passion for nutrition and patient safety.
- Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and time‑management abilities.
- Capacity to prioritise multiple responsibilities across clinical, administrative, educational, quality improvement and research domains.
- Willingness and ability to travel between the two acute hospital sites and to community locations as required.
- Full‑time, on‑site presence Monday to Friday with five 7.5‑hour shifts (core hours 8:00–17:00).
