We have a permanent Band 6 Speech and Language therapy post available at Paddock School.
Paddock is made up of a primary and a secondary school.
Our NHS team consists of 16 therapy staff, including SLTs, OTs, therapy assistants and an administrator, all based on site.
This is an exciting time for Paddock, with a new secondary school building opening in September 2025 as part of the expansion programme and a significant increase in pupil numbers.
As a Band 6 PT, you will work closely with autistic pupils with learning difficulties, all of whom have EHCPs.
The team is highly skilled in the use of AAC and a wide range of language and social communication interventions.
We are also developing our offer for pre‑formal learners using play‑based approaches such as DIR Floortime, Intensive Interaction and the Curiosity programme.
MDT working is central – SLTs and OTs collaborate as a single team and liaise daily with teaching colleagues, parents/carers, CAMHS and local authority educational psychologists.
Therapy assistants support the delivery of 1:1 and group interventions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct specialist paediatric assessments of each pupil on your caseload, formulating an intervention plan and delivering the related therapy provision in partnership with the teaching team.
- Provide training and in‑class support to the teaching team.
- Deliver other indirect provision, as appropriate, through the teaching team and also to families, for each pupil.
- Supervise and support junior therapists, therapy assistants and students, and be involved in teaching MDT staff as well as those from other agencies.
- Support flexible working arrangements, discussing any flexibility required during the recruitment process.
Qualifications
- Experience and skills relevant to working with a diverse paediatric caseload.
- Experience and skills relevant to working in a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Clinical skills related to ASD and learning disability and/or enthusiasm for developing your skills in these areas.
- Ability to work flexibly and independently where necessary.
- Enthusiasm, imagination and initiative.
