Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic nurse to join our team of Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists within the Head and Neck cancer pathway at St George’s.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality, safe, and effective care to the Head and Neck Cancer cohort and act as a key worker throughout the patient pathway, meeting patients pre‑diagnosis.
- Provide care to patients with suspected and newly diagnosed Head and Neck cancer, emphasising counselling, emotional support, and ensuring easy access to telephone support.
- Identify when to refer patients to other professionals for specialist guidance, support, and counselling.
- Support the Trust in achieving compliance with Direct to Test, Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) and Referral to Treatment waiting‑time targets, and participate in the Head and Neck Telephone Assessment Clinic (TAC).
- Lead patient and carer communication issues and coordinate the patient pathway for patients referred to the team.
- Provide guidance, support, advice, and counselling to patients and their families or carers throughout the pathway.
- Act as the key worker or nominate the key worker for patients in the team’s care.
