St George's Healthcare NHS Trust wishes to appoint a neurosurgery registrar.
The post holder will be responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the neurosurgery service and will join an existing team of 10 Specialist Registrars, 4 Senior Clinical Fellows and 2 Academic Registrars at St George's Hospital, sharing 1:16 on‑call duties based on an EWTD‑compliant rota.
Responsibilities
- Attend out‑patient clinics and operating sessions.
- Cross‑cover colleagues during absences.
- Perform on‑call duties, including out‑of‑hours emergency operations, at a level appropriate for a Sp R cover.
- Manage Neurosurgery Unit beds, assessing all admissions on the ward and, where necessary, in A &E.
- Attend pre‑assessment clinics covering paediatric patients under the care of the Neurosurgical team.
- Deliver daily Neurosurgical team teaching to medical students and staff.
- Comply with Trust clinical targets such as timely completion of discharge summaries and clinic letter turn‑around.
Qualifications & Experience
- Sp R (Stage1) Neurosurgery.
- Full‑time position with attachment to a Consultant Neurosurgeon.
