The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced individual to the role of POCT Associate Practitioner for the SWLP network. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of POCT devices and analysers, and will assist the POCT coordinator in the implementation of the Trust wide POCT Policy. This includes staff training/competency assessment, e-learning, IT, hardware and software support, SOPs, audit, stock checks and contribution to accreditation.

The post-holder will work relatively independently, supported by the SWLP POCT manager, POCT coordinator, POCT clinical scientist, BMS/MLA staff and the Principal Clinical Biochemist on each site to deliver and facilitate training on a range of POCT devices and analysers. Given the outward-facing nature of this role, the successful individual will need to have significant POCT experience, extensive experience in the delivery and facilitation of POCT training, and good organisational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and support the Advanced Biomedical Scientist (POCT Co-ordinator) and POCT Manager in providing a professional POCT service.
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective running of the POCT service as appropriate.
  • Provide clinical technical services to patients that may include research and audit samples.
  • Use interpretive and technical skills to assist in determining the clinical significance of results of POCT tests.
