St George's University Hospitals

Overview

This post represents an exciting opportunity to combine clinical practice in diagnostic and laboratory microbiology with direct care to inpatients and outpatients with infection‑related problems. It is a fixed term appointment to cover a colleague’s maternity leave. The successful post holder will join and contribute to a strong innovative consultant body and it is envisaged that the post holder will complement and strengthen the existing subspecialties within the care group which include leadership for the infection prevention and control team, antimicrobial stewardship, OPAT, infection on the Intensive Care Units, hospital‑acquired infection, surgical site infections, HIV medicine/co‑infection (hepatitis / TB), travel‑related infection, tuberculosis (including MDRTB), and the treatment of invasive fungal infections. On‑call for Medical Microbiology/Clinical infection overnight and at weekends will be included on an approximately 1:8 basis. We strongly support flexible working in the department. We would encourage the post holder to take an interest in laboratory microbiology.
