Job Summary

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Intensivist post within Adult Critical Care at St George's University Hospitals Foundation Trust, London. The role is based in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit with opportunities to contribute to the Critical Care Outreach Service and pursue a secondary specialty pending negotiation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team delivering Critical Care.
  • Engage in associated service development, clinical governance and quality improvement work.
  • Contribute to the education and supervision of students and trainees.
  • Support directorate‑wide research activities.
  • Contribute to the clinical management of the unit.

The post holder will participate in the NICU consultant on‑call rota, which includes a seven‑day duty period and a weekday cover rota, and may spend a portion of direct clinical care with the Critical Care Outreach Service. The job plan is fully annualised with a minimum of 42 clinical weeks per year and flexibility for less than 10 PA commitments. Annualised planning also allows allocation of time for secondary specialty or outreach duties and requires liaison with colleagues for internal cover during leave.
