Overview
DALT provides timely and responsive drug and alcohol assessment, screening, interventions and management advice with onward referral to and liaison with local community services. We support medical and nursing staff on the effective management of substance withdrawal or stabilization within our Emergency Department and acute wards.
Responsibilities
- Provide a screening and brief intervention service to clients identified as drug dependent or drinking at a level potentially harmful to health.
- Assess all clients referred from ED and inpatient wards/clinics and provide expert advice and signposting to community substance misuse services.
- Work closely with local specialist services to provide for people with drug and alcohol dependency.
- Communicate and negotiate in complex situations and make clear autonomous and clinically safe decisions related to patient care.
