Responsibilities
- Undertake specialist paediatric assessment of children/students on own caseload who may have complex presentations, and from this assessment formulate a treatment plan and carry out this treatment as an autonomous practitioner.
- Work closely with teaching staff, parents/carers and other MDT members to support each pupil.
- Supervise and support undergraduate students, and be involved in teaching MDT staff as well as those from other agencies.
- Support the implementation of evidence-based projects, including making recommendations for change in practice and participating in departmental research and audit as appropriate.
- Supervise and support junior speech and language therapists as well as speech and language therapy assistants, and support the development and evaluation of service delivery.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience of, and specialist skills working with, a diverse paediatric caseload.
- Experience in developing and delivering universal and / or targeted level offers, preferably within special schools and/or mainstream schools.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team.
- Ability to work flexibly and independently where necessary.
- Enthusiasm, imagination, and initiative.
