The predicted salary is between 38141 - 46617 Β£ per year.

To be clinically and managerially responsible on a shift by shift basis for the provision of:

  • Appropriate staffing levels and skill mix.
  • A high standard of direct nursing care.
  • A safe supportive environment for staff, babies and relatives.
  • Effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team within the Trust and external agencies.
  • Timely transfer of babies back to their referring hospital.
  • Supervision and teaching of junior staff and students.
  • Appropriate documentation in line with Trust standard and NMC guidelines for record keeping.
  • The post holder will be expected to work within all areas of the service.

We are looking for skilled neonatal trained nurses with excellent communication skills and proven evidence of leading and supporting a team of nurses to deliver high quality care to sick, premature babies.

The successful applicant will be expected to work both short and long shifts as well as internal rotation to night duty.

You must be NMC registered, in possession of a neonatal and equivalent of assessor qualification and have relevant recent experience at Band 6 level.

The Unit is one of three lead centres within the South London Neonatal Network and a tertiary referral centre for neonatal surgery.

It has a large establishment of 150 nurses and support staff, ranging from Neonatal Assistants to Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners.

The unit has a capacity of 40 cots, 12 of which are intensive care, 12 high dependency, and 16 special care.

The unit also provides a neonatal community follow-up service.

With nearly9,000 dedicated staff caring for patients around the clock, they are the largest healthcare provider in southwest London.

Their main site, St George's Hospital in Tooting - one of the country's principal teaching hospitals - is shared with St George's, University of London, which trains medical students and carries out advanced medical research.

St George's Hospital also hosts the St George's, University of London and Kingston University Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences, which is responsible for training a wide range of healthcare professionals from across the region.

As well as acute hospital services, they provide a wide variety of specialist care and a full range of community services to patients of all ages following integration with Community Services Wandsworth in 2010.
