Overview

A vacancy has arisen for a Band 6 Rehabilitation Engineer, working with the Wheelchair Service based at Queen Mary\'s Hospital in Roehampton.

The service covers the provision of posture and wheeled mobility equipment and special seating to meet the complex needs of people with disabilities, living across five boroughs in Southwest London.

This is a short-term contract for 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Assess people with disabilities in a multidisciplinary team and independently, providing technical expertise and prescription to ensure the provision of manual and powered wheelchairs, special seating and associated equipment.
  • Develop knowledge of the manufacturing process and apply practical skills to design and manufacture seating systems and modifications.
  • Provide technical expertise to other wheelchair service colleagues in the review, adaptation, modification, prescription and delivery of both standard and bespoke equipment.
  • Travel to clients\' homes and other clinical sites across Southwest London; a full UK driving licence is required and the post holder will use their own car for visits.

Requirements

  • Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel as part of the role.
  • Experience in assessing, prescribing and delivering wheelchair and seating solutions for people with disabilities.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and independently; strong technical and practical design/manufacture skills for seating systems and wheelchair accessories.
