An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated Biomedical Support Workers, Band 2, to join the Cellular Pathology Team at St George's Hospital, Tooting.
Candidates will have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to work alongside other Biomedical Support Workers and Biomedical Scientists as part of a team. This post will offer successful applicants the opportunity to support the Trust's cancer & diagnostics testing, coupled with other duties including:
- Preparing samples for analysis
- Inputting patient data
- Maintaining lab equipment
- Dealing with enquiries
Successful candidates will be required to undergo training and will need to work on a roster once fully trained and competent.
Duties will include:
- Maintaining laboratory equipment
- Aiding laboratory staff in some aspects of technical work
- Entry of patient data onto the pathology computer system
- Assisting medical staff with diagnostic tissue handling of operative specimens
- Preparing specimens for diagnostic testing
Good literacy, biological science, numeracy and communication skills are required; keyboard skills would be an advantage. You should have the ability to work as part of a team and to manage your own workload. Previous experience of medical terminology and data entry is preferred.
