Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

  • Audit services with regard to their compliance with legislation relating to radiation and laser safety and advise on corrective actions as necessary.
  • To act as deputy section leader.
  • To personally act as RPA and MPE to sites that are the responsibility of the post holder.
  • To contribute to the development of RPC’s services.
  • To participate in scientific research and development.
  • To provide radiation protection specifications for facilities using ionising radiation. To advise on the radiation safety aspects of the design and build of existing and new facilities for ionising radiations.
  • To contribute to the organisation and delivery of the section’s training courses.
  • Provide advice on legislation and guidance in radiation protection to clients. The post holder is required to keep up-to-date with current legal requirements.
