Working at St George’s School means being part of a supportive, inclusive environment where every student is valued. Our staff work with children and young people with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those who may present with physical behaviours. Many of our students also require support with personal care and medical administration as part of their daily routines.

Applicants should be resilient and committed to compassionate, person-centred support, confident in building trusting relationships with learners with diverse and complex needs, while upholding strong safeguarding practice.

Our school values are Perseverance, Aspiration, Independence and Respect

In September 2024 we opened a satellite provision in East Cowes for young people with SEMH needs, where we have embedded trauma informed practice and a therapeutic classrooms approach to support them on their academic journey.

The provision has been incredibly successful, and we are looking forward to welcoming a new, additional cohort of young people in September 2026

As such, we are now looking to recruit to the following post:

Classroom Teacher

Salary – UQT/MPS/UPS + SEN POINT

Hours per week – Full-time, 32.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of high quality inclusive teaching, including maintenance of all subject curriculum related documentation, including student progress, attainment and accreditation.

The post will require elements of delivering maths, English, functional skills and life skills alongside promoting independence and preparation for adulthood.

You will develop your practice to effectively meet the needs of our students, supporting them to progress in line with school expectations, or exceed them with additional support. You will develop positive working relationships, sharing good practice across school, and take a lead in identifying areas for your own professional development through your reflective practice.

What you can offer us:

  • A dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher who can work creatively to enhance the education of students with a range of SEMH needs, as they journey through to adulthood.
  • Relevant experience and understanding of SEMH students who may present with challenging behaviour is essential.
  • Self-reflection on the effectiveness of lessons and approaches to teaching.

In return we can offer:

  • Wonderful students.
  • The opportunity to be part of an adaptable, committed and skilled staff team.
  • A creative learning environment, timetable and curriculum.
  • A wide range of training opportunities for career development.

We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and expect all our staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for the successful applicant.
