The predicted salary is between 31650 - 43607 £ per year.

This position is open to ECTs and experienced teachers. The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly-motivated teacher to join our 2 form entry school, graded ‘outstanding’ for behaviour in our last Ofsted. The school enjoys an excellent reputation, and parents are very positive about the education of their children and highly supportive of the school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports to: Headteacher & D. It is the duty of any teacher employed by St. George's School to support the School’s Mission Statement and aims.

Have knowledge and understanding of:

  • Have a detailed knowledge of the relevant aspects of the National Curriculum and other statutory requirements.
  • Understand progression in their Key Stage including before and after the age range.
  • Cope securely with subject-relation questions which pupils raise and know about pupils’ common misconceptions and mistakes.

Planning and setting expectations:

  • Identify clear teaching objectives, content, lesson structures and sequences appropriate to the subject matter and the pupils being taught.
  • Set appropriate and demanding expectations for pupils’ learning and motivation.
  • Set clear targets for pupils’ learning, building on prior attainment.
  • Identify pupils who have special educational needs, and know where to get help in order to give positive and targeted support.
  • Implement and keep records on SEN Support Plans.

Teaching and managing pupil learning:

  • Ensure effective teaching of whole classes, groups and individuals so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintained, and best use is made of teaching time.
  • Use teaching methods which keep pupils engaged, including stimulating pupils’ intellectual curiosity, effective questioning and response, clear presentation and good use of resources.
  • Set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline through positive and productive relationships.
  • Maintain good order and discipline among the pupils and safeguarding their health and safety both when they are in school and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere.
  • Liaise with the SENCO to ensure that the SEN Code of Practice is implemented fully.
  • Maintain a stimulating, informative environment displaying children’s work appropriately.
  • Use a variety of suitable teaching and learning styles.
  • Communicate personal enthusiasm and stimulate and maintain interest in learning.

Assessment and evaluation:

  • Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use this assessment for future teaching.
  • Mark and monitor pupils’ class and homework providing constructive oral and written feedback, setting targets for pupils’ progress.
  • Understand the demands expected of pupils in relation to the National Curriculum.
  • Understand and use O track, the school’s assessment system and be able to compile relevant reports for Pupil Progress Meetings.

Pupil Achievement:

  • Secure progress towards pupil targets and be accountable for progress of pupils in the class.

Relations with parents and wider community:

  • Know how to prepare and present informative reports to parents.
  • Recognise that learning takes place outside the school context and provide opportunities to develop pupils’ understanding by relating their learning to real and work-related examples.
  • Participate in arrangements for appraisal of her/his performance.
  • Participate in arrangements for her/his further training and professional development as a teacher.
  • Understand the need to liaise with agencies responsible for pupils’ welfare.

Managing own performance and development:

  • Understand the need to take responsibility for their own professional development and to keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy and in the subjects they teach.
  • Understand their professional responsibilities in relation to school policies and practices.
  • Set a good example to the pupils they teach in their presentation and their personal conduct.
  • Evaluate their own teaching critically and use this to improve their effectiveness.
  • Take an active part in the school’s involvement with the wider community.

Managing and developing staff and other adults:

  • Establish effective working relationships with professional colleagues including, where applicable, associate staff.

Strategic leadership:

  • Establish working effectively as part of an Upper/Lower Key Stage Team.
