About Our Employees: The twin objectives of St George’s Crypt are the relief of hardship and poverty among those living with homelessness, poverty and addiction in the city of Leeds and beyond; and the advancement of the Christian religion for public benefit. Therefore, it is key for the employees and volunteers of the Crypt to be sympathetic to the Christian faith which underpins all our work.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

• Enforcing the company’s safeguarding policy.
• Being alert to and recognising welfare issues, being sure to challenge poor practice.
• Sharing appropriate information with relevant people.
• Continually working with the families of residents and service users, sharing information and contributing to plans if a concern is investigated.
• Ensuring that all staff having contact with children, vulnerable adults and/or their families have received appropriate training on safeguarding issues.

• To understand and implement working standards set by the domestic violence and abuse quality mark documentation.

Charity Wide Responsibilities:

• Recognise the holistic needs of all service users both practical and spiritual and either respond directly or refer as appropriate.

• Attend training courses and conferences in order to maintain personal development as agreed with Line Manager.
• Due to the nature of the role and the workplace, the post holder must be over 18 years of age.

Job Purpose: To generate income for the Charity by assisting the shop supervisor in the day to day running of the charity shop and promoting the aims of the charity to the local community.

Key Job Role Responsibilities and Main Tasks:

• Selling donated items in the shop to generate income for the charity.
• Ensuring the highest standards of customer service are always met.
• Deal sympathetically with and provide information to members of the public, where necessary directing those in need of further sources of help.
• Assist in the day-to-day operation of the shop, ensuring the highest standards of shop appearance are met, while ensuring that new stock is put on display frequently.
• Help all other members of staff and volunteers where necessary.
• Assist with regular social media content to advertise shop and products.
• Provide cover for staff as necessary and as directed by the Head of Retail.
• Assist in managing the upkeep and security of the premises and in emergency situations liaise with the shop supervisor or Head of Retail for any emergency repairs.
• Be aware of and help maintain all Health & Safety issues in the shop in accordance with St George’s Crypt policies and procedures.
• Assist in managing the movement, security and accounting of cash in accordance with the St George’s Crypt policies and procedures.
• Update the shop supervisor and Head of Retail on all aspects of shop operations that occur while the supervisor is absent, including, but not restricted to, staff, property, security and health & safety.
• Ensure all administrative tasks required by St George’s Crypt or delegated by the shop supervisor are completed correctly and on time.
