Our staff work with children and young people with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those who may present with physical behaviours. Many of our students also require support with personal care and medical administration as part of their daily routines. Available Learning Support Assistant Roles:

  • 1 x PT – 2 days per week, Mon and Tues – 13.25 hours per week
  • 2 x FT – 31.25 hours per week
  • 1 x PT – 4 days per week, Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri – 25.25 hours per week
  • 2 x FT – 31.25 hours per week
  • 1 x PT – 2 days per week, Thurs and Fri – 12 hours per week
  • 1 x FT – 31.25 hours per week
  • 1 x FT 1‑2‑1, fixed‑term contract – 31.25 hours per week

All based on term‑time, 38 weeks, based at our main site in Newport.

About the Role:

As an LSA you will work with students at St George’s and within the community, and work towards implementing specific programs that enable us as a School to respond positively to our students. St George’s supports students with a range of challenges, including:

  • Complex medical and behavioural challenges
  • PMLD/ASC diagnosis
  • SEMH needs

Working with and under the direction of the class teacher and senior LSAs, you will support the learning of the class through 1‑2‑1 and small group mentoring.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant experience of working with students/young people who have High Needs/SEND in a specialist area, such as SEMH, Medical, Autism, and complex challenging behaviour.
  • The ability to demonstrate a high level of personal resilience.
  • An understanding of, and a willingness to hold safeguarding at the centre of your practice.
  • A willingness to undertake/update any specialist training as required.
