About St Gemma's Hospice

St Gemma’s Hospice is the largest hospice charity in Yorkshire, supporting thousands of patients and families each year. We are a local, independent charity with almost 50 years of expertise in providing specialist end-of-life care to the people of Leeds. The Hospice provides In-Patient care but is not just a building; most of St Gemma’s patients are supported in the place they want to stay – often their own homes. Our exceptional team, united by our mission to deliver high-quality care with compassion and dignity, consists of over 300 staff, alongside 800 volunteers who generously and passionately donate their time. Our Academic Unit in Palliative Care is at the forefront of clinical research and training, in collaboration with The University of Leeds. We were the first University Teaching Hospice in the world and have been able to support research, education and training, and evidence-based practice on a local, national and international scale.

Our IT Team is a vital part of St Gemma’s, ensuring our digital systems facilitate the delivery and availability of modern IT solutions that enable high quality patient care and effective organisational operations across multiple locations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Contributes to continuous service improvement in line with NHS standards, Information Governance requirements, and best practice IT service management frameworks.

What are we looking for in a candidate

  • Experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure operations.
  • Excellent people leadership capabilities to develop a high performing team, foster a supportive culture which is in line with Hospice values and behaviours.
  • Motivate, coach and support team members through change, understanding individual skills, learning and operating styles with a clear focus on staff development and operational delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to manage and coach a small team, guide them through change and deal effectively with performance conversations.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, and end user devices.
  • Experience delivering IT services in a complex environment with clinical or safety critical requirements.
  • Experience of managing third party suppliers to deliver services.
