St Gemma’s Hospice is seeking to appoint a Receptionist to join our team, working Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4pm. Based within Outpatients Reception, the role extends far beyond traditional reception duties. The position provides administrative, operational and patient-facing support across Outpatients, Community Services, Medical Outpatient Clinics, Therapy Services, Social Work, Family Support and Volunteer services.

This is a varied, exciting role providing high quality reception and administrative support within our Outpatients Unit. You will be greeting patients and visitors, answering the phone and completing administrative tasks, such as:

  • Managing Outpatient clinic rotas and capacity
  • Maintaining Therapy Team ledgers and clinician availability
  • Typing, processing and uploading clinical correspondence
  • Coordinating volunteer driver transport for patients attending appointments and groups
  • Managing Clinical Nurse Specialist rotas and whereabouts information
  • Updating urgent appointment changes and operational issues

The role is ideal for a self-starter with administrative experience who is keen to become involved in the work of the Hospice. The successful candidate will be:

  • Highly organised and efficient, with keen attention to detail
  • Proficient in using SystmOne
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and used to adapting to changing priorities
  • Able to multi-task while managing frequent interruptions
  • Experienced in communicating with a variety of people over the telephone and in person
  • Confident in using IT and learning new systems
