St Gemma’s Hospice is the largest hospice charity in Yorkshire, supporting thousands of patients and families each year. We are a local, independent charity with almost 50 years of expertise in providing specialist end-of-life care to the people of Leeds. Our IT Team is a vital part of St Gemma’s, ensuring our digital systems facilitate the delivery and availability of modern IT solutions that enable high quality patient care and effective organisational operations across multiple locations.
With a focus on transforming and improving our current IT systems and infrastructure, we are looking for an experienced IT Team Leader who can lead a small team of IT Technicians, and support the Head of IMT with strategic transformation initiatives. The role will initially be on a fixed-term contract basis for 12 months.
Key duties:
- Day to day leadership of the Hospice IT support services and supervision of a small team, ensuring the delivery of secure, reliable, and efficient digital systems.
- Acts as the senior technical escalation point, and supports the management of infrastructure, clinical systems, cybersecurity, and digital workplace technologies.
- Contributes to continuous service improvement in line with NHS standards, Information Governance requirements, and best practice IT service management frameworks.
What are we looking for in a candidate:
- Experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure operations.
- Excellent people leadership capabilities to develop a high performing team, foster a supportive culture which is in line with Hospice values and behaviours.
- Motivate, coach and support team members through change, understanding individual skills, learning and operating styles with a clear focus on staff development and operational delivery.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to manage and coach a small team, guide them through change and deal effectively with performance conversations.
- Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, and end user devices.
- Experience delivering IT services in a complex environment with clinical or safety critical requirements.
- Experience of managing third party suppliers to deliver services.
- Experience supporting electronic patient record (EPR) or clinical systems is advantageous but not essential.
- Relevant technical certifications OR evidence of working toward them (e.g., Microsoft, networking, cybersecurity).
- ITIL Foundation, Microsoft 365, Azure, Fortinet, or equivalent vendor certification are also desirable.
