Position: Student Support Assistant – Level 1 (Part Time, Permanent, 27.5 hrs/wk, Term Time only)

About the role: To support access to learning for all students under the direction of teaching staff and the SEND Co‑ordinator.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise and support students, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
- Establish good relationships, act as a role model and respond appropriately to individual student needs.
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all students.
- Encourage students to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- Encourage students to act independently as appropriate.
- Report student problems, progress and achievements to the teacher, curriculum leader or SEND coordinator.
- Maintain student records and support the delivery of materials to identified students.
- Support students in understanding instructions and local and national learning strategies (e.g. literacy, numeracy, KS3 and KS4).
- Support students in using basic ICT as directed.
- Assist at lunchtime, Homework Club, student social support sessions and other necessary activities.
- Ensure compliance with child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection policies.
- Promote equal access to opportunities and support the ethos and aims of the school.
- Support the role of other professionals and attend relevant meetings as required.
- Assist with the supervision of students at lunchtimes and accompany teaching staff on visits, trips and out‑of‑school activities.
- Participate in training, further learning and performance development activities; maintain a CPD file.

- Experience working with 11‑16 year olds – Essential.

- Basic ICT skills, including knowledge and use of the internet – Essential.
