A leading egg packing centre, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Hygiene Manager to join their team and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the factory, both high care and low risk environments.
As the Hygiene Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective hygiene practices on site. You will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment, complying with BRC and customer requirements, and upholding their commitment to producing outstanding products.
In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring that all hygiene activities are carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation and company policies. This includes identifying potential hazards, promoting a culture of safety and cleanliness, conducting risk assessments, ensuring safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, and supporting training initiatives to reinforce best practices in both hygiene and workplace safety.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and implement hygiene policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Conduct regular hygiene audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with production and quality control teams to integrate hygiene practices into daily operations.
- Manage and lead a team of hygiene personnel, providing training, guidance, and support to ensure the team operates efficiently.
- Oversee the selection and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, ensuring they meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and control hygiene-related budgets, ensuring cost‑effective practices without compromising on quality.
- Validation of hygiene for new equipment, determine the schedule for the hygiene of equipment post installation.

Skills Required
- Food Safety Expertise – Strong knowledge of BRCGS standards, HACCP Level 3, Food Safety Level 3, and hygiene validation procedures.
- COSHH Compliance – In-depth understanding of safe chemical handling, storage, and documentation.
- Clean‑in‑Place (CIP) Systems – Experience in operating, maintaining, and validating CIP processes.
- Audit & Inspection Skills – Ability to conduct internal hygiene audits and respond effectively to customer and third‑party inspections.
- Equipment & Chemical Management – Knowledge of selecting suitable cleaning chemicals and hygiene equipment to meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Leadership & People Skills
- Team Leadership – Ability to manage, train, and develop a hygiene team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Communication Skills – Clear and confident communicator, able to influence colleagues at all levels.
