Role Purpose

At St Ewe, we're on an ambitious journey to become the UK's most distinctive egg brand by 2030.

Technology will play an increasingly important role in enabling our growth, supporting our people and keeping our operations running effectively.

As our IT Manager, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day delivery, reliability and continuous improvement of our IT environment.

You'll lead our helpdesk team, provide hands-on technical leadership and ensure colleagues across St Ewe have the systems, infrastructure and support they need to perform at their best.

You'll have responsibility across IT infrastructure, networking, hardware, Microsoft 365, cyber security, AI, business systems, ERP and operational technology.

You'll also play an important role in continually improving our technology environment, ensuring robust foundations are in place to support future business and technology developments.

This is a practical, sleeves-rolled-up role.

You'll be equally comfortable troubleshooting a technical issue, installing new network equipment, managing a supplier, implementing a new system or working with a Senior Leader to understand how technology can improve the way we work.

You'll have the opportunity to shape and strengthen our IT capability from the ground up, work closely with colleagues across the entire business and make a visible difference to how St Ewe operates every day.

As we continue to invest in technology, ERP, AI and our operational facilities, you'll play an important role in building the foundations for the next phase of our growth and the future IT & Digital function.

• Key Accountabilities
• IT Operations & Service Delivery
• Manage the day-to-day operation of the IT function.
• Ensure the availability, reliability and performance of business-critical systems.
• Oversee IT support activities and ensure incidents and service requests are resolved effectively.
• Monitor service performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures and technical documentation.
• Establish and maintain service standards that support business requirements.
• Infrastructure & Network Management
• Manage and maintain the company's infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, cloud services and end-user devices.
• Ensure systems are appropriately monitored, maintained and supported.
• Manage network performance across office, warehouse and production environments.
• Oversee connectivity, remote access solutions and communications systems.
• Ensure that systems remain resilient and secure through effective maintenance and lifecycle management.
• Cyber Security & Business Continuity
• Implement and maintain effective cyber security controls across the organisation.
• Manage user access, identity management and endpoint security.
• Coordinate vulnerability management, patching and system updates.
• Maintain backup and disaster recovery arrangements.
• Support cyber security awareness initiatives across the business.
• Investigate and respond to technology-related security incidents.
• Business Systems Support
• Manage and support core business applications, including ERP, Microsoft 365 and other operational systems.
• Work with department managers to identify system improvements and process efficiencies.
• Coordinate software upgrades, testing and system enhancements.
• Maintain system documentation and user guidance materials.
• Liaise with software vendors and implementation partners.
• Work closely with operational teams to minimise disruption to production activities.
• Coordinate support for manufacturing equipment interfaces, data collection systems and production reporting technologies.
• Assist with the implementation of new operational technologies and system intergrations
• Ensure production systems are supported, maintained and appropriately documented.
• Deliver IT projects and system improvements within agreed timescales and budgets.
• Supplier & Contract Management
• Manage relationships with external IT suppliers, support providers and consultants.
• Monitor supplier performance and service delivery.
• Assist with procurement of hardware, software and IT services.
• Ensure software licensing and support agreements remain compliant and cost effective.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations for technology purchases and services.
• Compliance & Governance
• Ensure technology systems comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support GDPR compliance and information security requirements.
• Maintain IT asset registers and software licence records.
• Support audit activities and internal compliance reviews.
• Assist with technology risk management activities.

Within your first 6–12 months, you will have

• Established reliable and effective day-to-day IT support across St Ewe.
• Built a strong working relationship with the IT team and developed the capability of the IT function.
• Improved IT processes, documentation and service management.
• Strengthened cyber security, backup and disaster recovery arrangements.
• Developed a clear understanding of our technology environment, risks and priorities.
• Supported the continued implementation and embedding of our ERP system.
• Built strong relationships with key technology suppliers.
• Strengthened IT support for our egg grading and liquid egg operations.
• Identified key technology investment and replacement requirements.
• Supported the responsible adoption of AI across the business.
• Become a trusted and valued technology partner across St Ewe.
• Created the foundations for the company achieving an industry recognised cyber-security certification.

Skills, Experience & Knowledge

Essential

• Proven experience in an IT support, infrastructure or IT management role.
• Strong practical knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking and Microsoft environments.
• Experience managing hardware, software, user accounts and IT assets.
• Good understanding of cyber security and information security principles.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
• Experience managing IT suppliers and external service providers.
• Experience supporting ERP platforms.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to prioritise effectively and remain calm under pressure.
• Strong customer service mindset.
• Experience of leading, coaching or developing others.
• 5+ years of IT management experience

Desirable

• Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Microsoft Business Central On-Premises experience.
• Experience with AI tools, automation or digital improvement.
• Knowledge of Power BI or other business intelligence systems.
• Experience achieving Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001 or a similar certification.
• ITIL certification.
