We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant, or someone qualified by experience, to take on a varied and rewarding role within a growing business. The Senior Accounts Assistant will take ownership of the sales ledger, oversee the treasury process and play a key part in the preparation of monthly management accounts. You will also provide guidance and support to the Accounts Assistant and work closely with colleagues across the business. There will be the opportunity to be involved in exciting project work which supports the company’s growth plans in the coming years.
Responsibilities
- Overall control and maintenance of the sales ledger
- Sending out customer statements and invoices
- Assessing credit requests and reviewing unapproved orders
- Chasing overdue debts and managing outstanding balances
- Arranging customer refunds and credit notes with correct stock adjustments
- Assisting with the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting the annual budgeting process
- Producing ad hoc reports and analysis as required
- Supporting the Finance Manager with project work to drive business growth
- Training and providing day-to-day support to the Accounts Assistant
- Monitoring and resolving tickets via the Freshdesk system
- Providing cover and support to team members during absences
- Creating and maintaining Financial Policies and Procedures
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of finance processes
- Maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times
About You
- Part-qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy
- Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with internal teams and external parties
- Organised and able to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- A collaborative team player with a positive, can-do attitude
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with SAP or a similar ERP system
- Experience in sales ledger, credit control, balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts preparation
