Hours: Monday- 8:30am - 4:30pm | Thursday - 1:30pm - 4:30pm

As a Community Bus Driver at St Elizabeth's, you'll do much more than transport people from A to B. You'll help adults with learning disabilities and complex needs access activities, experiences and opportunities within their local community, supporting independence, inclusion and enjoyment every step of the way.

About the role
As a Community Bus Driver, you will be responsible for providing safe, reliable and person-centred transport for adults attending our Community Hub.
No two days are quite the same. One day you may be supporting a group attending a local leisure activity; another, helping individuals access community facilities and events. Whatever the destination, you'll ensure passengers arrive safely, comfortably and with dignity.
This role would suit someone who is confident driving larger vehicles, enjoys interacting with people and understands the importance of excellent customer service and passenger safety.
What You'll do
- Safely transport clients and their support staff to and from community activities and leisure trips.
- Provide a friendly, professional and respectful service that puts passenger wellbeing first.
- Secure wheelchairs and specialist equipment safely before travel
- Plan journeys effectively, taking account of timings, traffic conditions and individual passenger needs
- Assist passengers safely when boarding and exiting wehicles where required
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any concerns promptly
- Maintain vehicles in a clean, safe and presentable condition
About You
- Substantial driving experience including larger vehicles, holding a valid UK driving licence Classes B, BE and D1
- Holds a valid MiDAS certificate (or willingness to undergo training)
- For insurance purposes, the post holder should be over the age of 25
- A courteous, patient and respectful approach to working with vulnerable individuals
- Good understanding of people with complex needs and passenger safety requirements
- Ability to remain calm and professional in all situations
- Experience of working within a care or education environment is desirable although not essential
