Location: Much Hadham, Hertfordshire
Salary: £18,443 pro rata (£12.71 per hour)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Term time only (39 weeks per year)

At St Elizabeth’s Centre, our Catering Team plays an important role in the health, wellbeing and everyday lives of the people we support.
As a Catering Assistant, you’ll help ensure our meals and dining areas are welcoming, well presented and run smoothly. From preparing and serving food, to supporting residents and customers and keeping the restaurant clean, you’ll be part of a friendly team helping to create a positive experience at every mealtime.

About St Elizabeth’s Centre
Set within the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, St Elizabeth’s is a specialist charity supporting children, young people and adults with complex medical and learning needs for over 120 years. We provide a specialist School, Sixth Form, College, Residential Children’s Homes, Supported Living and on-site nursing and therapy teams.

About the role
As a Catering Assistant at St Elizabeth’s, you’ll help provide an efficient, friendly and welcoming food service for our residents, students, staff and visitors.
You’ll support the catering team with food preparation and service, ensuring meals, snacks and drinks are well presented and available when needed. You’ll also help maintain clean and welcoming dining areas and provide friendly customer service throughout the day.
This is a varied hands-on role where you’ll work closely with our Chefs and wider Catering Team to make sure every service runs smoothly.
What you’ll be doing
- Keeping food, drinks, confectionery and service areas fully stocked and well presented
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service to residents, students, staff and visitors
- Maintaining clean, welcoming dining and restaurant areas throughout service
- Operating the till and processing payments accurately
- Maintaining high levels of food hygiene, cleanliness and personal presentation
What we’re looking for
Previous experience in catering, hospitality or food service is desirable not essential
- Ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements
- Good organisations skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Ability to work well as part of a team whilst also using your own initiative
