As an Occupational Therapist, you will deliver specialist occupational therapy provision in line with pupils' EHCPs and individual needs, managing and prioritising your own clinical caseload while maintaining high professional standards in assessment, reporting, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy provision in line with pupils' EHCPs and individual needs.
  • Manage and prioritise your own clinical caseload, ensuring high professional standards in assessment, reporting and documentation.
  • Carry out comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including standardised and risk assessments.
  • Plan and deliver targeted interventions in individual, group and joint settings using functional, sensory and behavioural approaches.
  • Develop and implement personalised therapy programmes that support pupils both in school and the wider community.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including SENCo, SaLT, counsellors, teachers and teaching assistants.
  • Provide regular guidance and training to staff to support pupils' sensory, physical and functional needs within the classroom.
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, reports and multi‑agency meetings, ensuring a pupil‑centred approach to goal setting.
  • Support the development of therapeutic provision across the school, contributing to service improvement and best practice.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, using trauma‑informed and therapeutic approaches to support engagement and wellbeing.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist with relevant professional registration.
  • Experience working with children and young people, ideally in educational or SEMH settings.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of sensory integration, motor skills development, and therapeutic approaches to behaviour and regulation.
  • Understands SEMH needs, attachment and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Can assess and respond effectively to pupils' physical, sensory, cognitive and emotional needs.
  • Communicates clearly, empathetically and professionally with pupils, families and staff.
  • Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and contributes to whole‑school approaches.
  • Demonstrates resilience, initiative and the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Is committed to safeguarding, wellbeing and achieving the best possible outcomes for pupils.
