St. Edwards is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to play a key role developing and promoting a positive Health & Safety culture across the school. The Health & Safety Manager will lead, develop, and maintain a comprehensive Health & Safety framework that ensures the wellbeing of the school community and follows full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of all Health & Safety matters, including policy implementation, monitoring and inspection, risk assessment and the delivery of training. The Health & Safety Manager will also act as the Fire Officer for the School. Ultimately, the role underpins trust and confidence among parents, staff, and regulators by demonstrating that the school consistently meets its duty of care while fostering an environment where safety is understood, valued, and continuously improved.
The successful candidate will need a NEBOSH certificate and First Aid at Work certificate as well as extensive practical understanding of Health & Safety legislation (e.g. RIDDOR, COSHH, manual handling, working at height etc.). A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of health, safety, compliance and risk management is also essential. Proven experience of working in a Health & Safety role at a similar level, bringing cultural change in an organisation is equally important.
This is a part-time position, working between 15 and 21.5 hours per week across 2 or 3 days. Exact working arrangements are to be agreed.
