Role Description

The Exams Officer is responsible for the efficient administration and coordination of all internal and external examinations across the school. This full-time, on-site role, based in Canterbury, includes organising exam timetables, entries, and seating plans; liaising with awarding bodies; and ensuring compliance with examination regulations and school policies. The role involves managing invigilation schedules, briefing and supporting invigilators, and overseeing the secure handling of exam materials. The Exams Officer will maintain accurate records, manage results and post-results services, and communicate clearly with learners, caregivers, and staff regarding examination procedures and deadlines. The position requires close collaboration with academic and administrative teams to ensure a smooth and fair examination experience for all candidates.

Qualifications

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, including attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency with office software, data entry, and database or exam management systems, with confidence in handling confidential information.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, learners, caregivers, and external agencies.
  • Capability to interpret and apply examination regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance and consistency.
  • Experience in an educational or examinations environment is highly desirable; familiarity with UK school exam frameworks is an advantage.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure during peak exam periods and to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and alignment with the school’s values.
  • Relevant post-secondary qualification or equivalent experience in administration, education, or a related field.
