Experience teaching textiles and graphics is also welcome.
The subject is thriving, with a pupil recently awarded the prestigious Arkwright Scholarship. Design and Technology is taught throughout the School, delivered to all pupils in Key Stage 3 and then as an option at GCSE. With small class sizes, DT is taught on the ground floor of the College in a spacious purpose-built workshop, and an adjacent supplementary classroom.
The department has many links with local industry and successful projects have been underpinned by working with outside professionals. The successful candidate will welcome the many opportunities to contribute to the lively co-curricular life of the College, which is situated in rural East Hertfordshire. St Edmunds is England's oldest Catholic school offering an all-round co-education for students from 3 to 18 and for families from all faiths.
The post will involve close contact with, and a high degree of responsibility for, children and young adults. The majority of this will be regulated activity and as such an enhanced DBS check (which includes children's barred list information) will be required in advance of appointment.
If you would like to apply please visit our website and complete an application. The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
