Salary: NJC Grade C: £25,989 - £26,403 FTE (pro‑rated for hours and weeks worked)

Working Pattern: fixed term position, 31.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year until 31st August 2027 (Monday to Friday)

St. David's C of E Primary School are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our school team. You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development, helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging school environment.

About the Role

Working under the guidance of teachers and senior staff, you will support learning in both classroom and small‑group settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils’ welfare and personal care, including those with SEND.
  • Implement literacy and numeracy interventions.
  • Assist with planning cycles and preparing learning resources.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil independence.
  • Assist with supervision during break/lunchtime and accompany pupils on trips when required.

Essential Qualities

  • Experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practice and strategies to remove barriers to learning.
  • Strong communication skills, including confidence and fluency in spoken English.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to relate well to both children and adults.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
  • Knowledge of SEN practices and the national curriculum.
  • Additional training in learning strategies such as literacy or numeracy.
  • NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent.
