St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School – Early Years Practitioner

Location: Thorburn Road, Norley Hall, Wigan, WN5 9LW

Salary: Grade 3, £21,932 per annum (£13.26 per hour)

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time, 38 weeks per year.

Working days: Monday 08:45‑15:45, Tuesday 08:45‑15:45, Wednesday 08:45‑18:00, Thursday 08:45‑18:00, Friday 08:45‑15:45. ½ hour lunch each day. Permanent. Required from September 2026.

Overview

The Governors are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, motivated and experienced Early Years Practitioner to support a key group of children and work with a team in the pre‑school room. The role involves partnership with parents and liaising with outside agencies as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to a key group of children and individual children.
  • Work as part of a team of practitioners within the pre‑school room.
  • Liaise with parents and outside agencies when necessary.
  • Maintain flexibility and reliability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Use excellent behaviour management skills and a nurturing approach.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in an early years setting – essential.
  • High standard literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Additional training such as Paediatric First Aid is welcome.
