Job Description
St Cuthbert's is seeking to appoint an academically outstanding and highly ambitious Teacher of Mathematics with responsibility for A Level Mathematics and A Level Further Mathematics, to join our thriving and successful Mathematics Department from January 2027.
This newly created position reflects the continued growth and popularity of both A Level Mathematics and A Level Further Mathematics within our Sixth Form. Reporting to the Second in Mathematics, an experienced Advanced Level Mathematics specialist, the successful candidate will play a leading role in maintaining and developing excellence in the teaching, learning and enrichment opportunities associated with these prestigious subjects.
We are looking for an exceptionally well-qualified mathematician who combines strong academic credentials with a proven ability to teach Mathematics and Further Mathematics to the highest standards. Applications are welcome from teachers at different stages of their career; what matters most is academic expertise, intellectual curiosity and a track record of successful classroom practice.
While the role carries a significant focus on Sixth Form provision, the successful candidate will also teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping to inspire and develop the next generation of A Level mathematicians. Our Mathematics Department is a large, successful, and ambitious team that has benefited from new leadership over the past two years and continues to go from strength to strength. The department is fully committed to our school vision of \"forming great men\", nurturing young people who are academically accomplished, morally grounded, and ready to make a positive contribution to society.
As a Catholic boys' secondary school and a proud member of a 39-school Catholic Education Trust, we offer outstanding opportunities for professional development, collaboration, and career progression, together with the support that comes from being part of a wider family of schools.
Additional Information
- Prospective applicants are warmly encouraged to visit the school and meet members of the department. We would be delighted to show you what makes our school and Mathematics Department such exciting places to work.
