Salary: £14.46 per hour (£27,821 per annum)

Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne

Hours: Full Time and part time available.

Make a real difference at the Alan Shearer Centre. The Alan Shearer Centre is a renowned specialist disability provision, dedicated to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. We are now expanding our expertise to open a brand-new residential home for up to three children with complex needs, offering a safe, nurturing and family-style environment where each child can flourish, grow in independence and enjoy life-enriching opportunities.

We are looking for compassionate and resilient Residential Care Officers to join our dedicated team and help shape this exciting new service. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of children who need specialist care and support.

Your role

  • Provide day-to-day care, encouragement and support for children with complex needs.
  • Help children develop confidence, life skills and social abilities in a stimulating, safe environment.
  • Deliver personalised care plans alongside our specialist multi-disciplinary team.
  • Create fun and meaningful experiences, both at home and in the wider community.
  • Support children with personal care in a dignified, respectful way.
  • Ensure a homely, safe environment that meets all care and regulatory standards.

About You

  • A genuine commitment to improving the lives of children with complex needs.
  • Experience of supporting children or young people with disabilities.
  • Patience, resilience and excellent communication skills.
  • A positive team player, flexible for shift work including evenings, weekends, and sleep‑ins.
