Starting Salary £27,802 WTE, pro rata, per annum (based on 37.5 hours per week) (rising to Step 2 £28,946 following 12 month satisfactory performance review) Plus Unsocial Hours Shift Allowance and Pension.
We are looking for an Iona Café Manager to run the Café on the weekends. The Café plays an important role in the hospice, serving patients and their families, staff and the local community. This will be a hands‑on role and will involve:
- Serving customers
- Displaying and replenishing stock
- Training, co‑ordinating and staffing the café with a team of 90 volunteers
- Ensuring a high standard of food hygiene and consistency of service
- Creating an open, welcoming, inclusive and friendly atmosphere that reflects the values of the Hospice
The ideal candidate will have previous café/shop and/or volunteer management experience, strong customer service skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people in an often‑busy environment. You will have a warm, friendly and helpful manner and be able to assist others in an empathetic way. You should be approachable and able to build a rapport with volunteers and customers.
Criminal Record Check: This post requires the holder to have a criminal record check. An application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before the successful candidate can begin in post. The Hospice will pay/reimburse the cost of this check.
