We are seeking a compassionate and reflective Chaplain to join our Psychological and Spiritual Care Team, working alongside the Lead Chaplain and colleagues across the hospice.
The role:
The postholder will provide inclusive spiritual, pastoral and religious care to patients, families and carers experiencing serious illness, dying, death and bereavement. You will offer compassionate listening and support around meaning, hope, loss and spiritual distress, as well as providing or arranging appropriate religious rituals, prayer, sacraments and ceremonies in accordance with individual wishes.
As a practising Christian with recognised church endorsement, authorisation or accountability, you will bring a strong foundation in Christian faith and practice alongside a commitment to supporting people of all faiths, beliefs and none.
You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, support staff and volunteers in recognising spiritual needs, and build relationships with local faith leaders and community organisations to promote accessible, person-centred spiritual care.
About you:
You will have appropriate chaplaincy or pastoral-care formation, relevant qualifications or experience, an understanding of end-of-life spiritual care, and a commitment to inclusive practice, professional standards and continuing development. Membership of, or eligibility for registration with, the UK Board of Healthcare Chaplaincy or another appropriate professional body is required.
What we offer:
- A rewarding opportunity to influence and make a difference in the community.
- Training and development opportunities.
- Season ticket loans and cycle-to-work scheme.
- Health and wellbeing initiatives.
- Competitive contributory pension, life assurance and a generous beneficiary plan.
- Free local street parking and some home-working opportunities.
