Contract Term and Hours: Temporary maternity cover, September to March (two school terms) 28 hours per week: (8:30 am – 3:10 pm four days a week and one day 8:30 am – 12:30 pm to be agreed at interview). Term time only – 38 weeks per annum. Annual leave: taken outside of term time and paid pro-rata throughout the year (no annual leave to be taken during term time).
Salary: SC-2. NJC points 4-7. Starting salary £17,335 post 1 and £16,046 post 2 (£25,185 – £26,403 FTE).

About the role: You will support the learning and needs of different pupils, supporting children with SEND, assisting classes and running small group activities. The role is based in KS2 at St Leonard’s CofE Primary School, Exeter, which provides a community school environment for around 600 pupils.
Responsibilities:
- Support teaching staff and assist with lessons and classroom activities.
- Provide individual or small-group support to children with SEND.
- Engage children in play and hands-on learning experiences.
- Communicate effectively with adults and children, encouraging positive learning environments.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Previous experience working with children.
- Basic safeguarding knowledge.
- Enhanced DBS disclosure required.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
